A widowed father relocates his family to Brooklyn. He meets and marries a German immigrant, but insists on caring for his late wife’s attractive sister – leaving this unlikely trio to do their best to raise two impressionable daughters in a 1950’s America as ripe for turbulent change as this family. Told through the eyes of a seventeen-year-old girl at the crossroads of adolescence and adulthood, this moving and joyful family drama is a touching affirmation of family and a young woman’s coming of age.
